Best Ways to Clean Bathroom Mold

The Best Ways to Clean Mold on Your Bathroom Tiles

In a recent blog post, we wrote about preventing mold from forming in your bathroom. In this post, we’re going to discuss cleaning mold on your bathroom tiles if mold from the water in your Delaware home’s bathroom plumbing pipes pools there. The presence of mold in your bathroom can negatively affect your health, so here are some tips for safely removing the fungi.

Wearing Protective Gear

The strong scents of cleaners and mold require you to always wear a respirator when removing mold from bathroom tiles so that you can better protect your lungs. In addition to using a respirator for the cleaning, wear rubber gloves and clothing that covers all skin surfaces that can potentially come in contact with the mold or cleaners. Open all bathroom windows and turn on the exhaust fan to improve the room’s ventilation during the cleaning process.

Baking Soda

An eco-friendly cleaner that is effective at removing mold from bathroom tiles is baking soda. Combine a bit of warm water and baking soda until the mixture forms a paste that you can evenly spread over the tiles of your bathroom shower or floor. When cleaning the bathroom tiles in your Delaware home, you may notice that the areas that contain the most mold are the grout lines, so remember to concentrate adequate amounts of paste over them. Leave the paste on the tiles and grout lines for two hours, fill a spray bottle with warm water, and spritz the areas with the water. Scrub the paste with a scrub brush, then rinse away the paste with warm water until it is all removed. You can use paper towels or a bath towel to remove the remaining water.

Another green product that can effectively remove mold from the bathroom tiles in your Delaware residence is vinegar. Pour distilled white vinegar into a spray bottle, spritz the tiles and grout lines, and let the vinegar sit for one hour. Clean away the vinegar with warm water and towel-dry the surface area. If the vinegar scent lingers, apply a warm water and lemon juice mixture to the tiles and grout lines to brighten the scent in your bathroom.

The presence of mold in the bathroom of your Delaware residence can make the room smell musty and aggravate health problems, including allergies and asthma, from which members of your family or visitors may suffer. Products that are safe for the environment, such as baking soda and vinegar, are excellent choices to combat mold. Always be sure to wear protective gear when removing mold from your bathroom’s tiles and grout lines.
