1. Be sure to listen to your breaker! If you ever feel any doubts about putting out the fire, firefighters recommend that you evacuate the building immediately. If you do decide that there is a chance that you can fight the fire and win, be sure to stand your ground, and don’t let the fire get between you and the exit. If you feel that the fire will overtake you or keep you from evacuating, then you need to get out.
3. Always be sure that if a fire is started from electrical equipment, never throw water on it. Throwing water on an electrical fire could cause the fire to get larger, so instead of using water, it is best to use your chemical fire extinguisher.
4. Firefighters highly recommend that you use the PASS method:
   • Pull the fire extinguisher’s safety pin.
   • Aim the extinguisher’s nozzle at the base of the fire.
   • Squeeze the extinguisher’s handle.
   • Sweep the extinguisher’s nozzle in a side-to-side motion until the flames are out.
     • Sure, this method sounds easy enough, but let’s hope that you never have to use it. To prevent having to deal with an elecrical fire, it is always best to contact your electrician before you try and do anything yourself. This way, it always puts you in a safe position.
5. Sometimes your lights may flicker and somtimes your circuit breaker can be tripping.
   • This can be caused by a loose wiring splice or even a light fixture that needs to be replaced for being so worn out.
